On March 28th, a 7.7 magnitude earthquake hit central Myanmar.

I want to thank several readers that reached out to ask if I was safe. Thankfully the entire Embassy team was unharmed by the earthquake, but the same cannot be said for several of the family members of our local staff. The devastation that has occurred in Mandalay and central Myanmar, the cultural heartland of the country, is severe, and further complicated by the ongoing civil war impacting Myanmar.

I will have more to say in a future post, but this week all I ask is that if you have the means, please consider donating to a charity of your choice to help the beautiful people of Myanmar. Thank you. -Nick
