It’s been a few weeks since I posted anything, and if there’s anyone out there that’s curious, there hasn’t been much movement. I am still in the security clearance process. I’m sure because my spouse was born and raised abroad (but as a US citizen in a friendly country), this gets more scrutiny. Considering half her family are foreign nationals, it likely is adding to the delay.

Of note, I did get a random email from State that basically was an update from HR explaining where I am in the process. It gave me the dates I hit milestones like passing my OA and getting my med clearance, and told me the security, suitability, and register timing remain pending. I hadn’t heard of the State Department doing this, but perhaps they got tired of nonstop emails/calls from people asking what’s going on. I’m not sure if this will be a monthly feature, but the email implied to expect future updates.

Overall, I’m honestly not in a huge rush. I have a great job and great life, and with several family obligations next year, the longer it takes, the better it will be for me. I would hate to have to miss my sister’s wedding because I’m in orientation. With my wife also expecting later this year, the older the baby gets, the easier the move will be for us.

That’s it for this post. Should I hear anything, I’ll post it here. Hope everyone is staying safe out there. CHEERS!
