I recently discussed the new hiring process for MED and several of you have reached out asking for next steps in the process once you take the initial application exam.
Assuming you pass (and many of you have…YAY!!!), you will be contacted to upload your documentation that was traditionally the first part of the USAJOBS application. From there if you meet the appropriate requirements, you will be scheduled for an oral assessment.
It seems like the time gap between passing the initial exam and being asked to provide more information takes a couple of weeks, if not longer. This process is new and information is fairly limited. As some of these initial applicants onboard and I have a clearer sense of the timeline and process, I will update things again. The thought is hiring should be a bit more streamlined and it won’t take as long (although medical clearances and security clearances will be the big time sink as always), but it will be interesting to compare timelines for folks that onboarded before the changes to those going through it now.
It’s a brave new world, and like everything in this job, whether applying or already working, patience is a virtue. -Nick
