Has it really been 2 years?

This past week marked 2 years since I started this blog, documenting my journey through the belly of the Foreign Service. Holy moly.

At the time I was living in West Texas, working as a hospitalist, and 6 months away from receiving a job offer to join. Since then we have had some adventures. From onboarding and orientation, to arriving in Mauritania, to eating camel meat, to learning what it truly means to live/work abroad in the Foreign Service. It has been a rollercoaster experience and I appreciate everyone who has been following along.

This blog was started as a source of information, and it warms my heart to see it continue to offer those interested in the job or lifestyle an inside look into the process. Somehow, the site still is the #2 hit if you google search “Foreign Service Medical Provider”, and this has meant a smattering of folks find their way to the blog every month. Many are prospective hires somewhere in application process. Many are curious about the job before applying. Many have been prospective hires that I am proud to now call my colleagues. All are most welcome.

I can’t thank everyone enough that has reached out to me after finding this site, either in comments or via email. This site is a labor of love, generates nothing for me other than warm fuzzies, and when people reach out with questions, I know it is serving its intended purpose. I can’t hesitate to stress enough that if you have any questions, I am always happy to answer them to the best of my ability.
